September is National Cholesterol Awareness Month. Cholesterol is important to be aware of at any age. About 102 million Americans over the age of 20 have cholesterol levels above the healthy standard.

High cholesterol can be caused by a high fat diet, low activity level, and genetics. Too much cholesterol can clog the arteries and cause heart problems or stroke, so it’s important to be aware of your blood lipid levels to prevent disease.

Sometimes medication is necessary to manage cholesterol, however by exercising regularly, maintaining a high fiber/low fat diet, and having blood tests done at least once every five years, you can prevent high cholesterol from negatively effecting your health.

AvKARE offers a range of unit dosed medications to help regulate high cholesterol levels. Ask your unit dose rep about them!
