What does it mean to do something with intention? An intention is an idea that you plan (or intend) to carry out. If you mean something, it’s an intention. Your goal, purpose, or aim is your intention. It’s something you mean to do, whether you pull it off or not.

When I first interviewed with AvKARE in 2014, I was asked, if offered the position, could I see myself working there for the next five years. Of course, at the time I said yes, but quite frankly deep down I was unsure.

You see, before this position, most places I worked at I was only there for a year or two. I would find myself in a job where I would hit the corporate ceiling, and could no longer grow. Mark Wahlberg depicted my feelings best in the movie The Other Guys when he said, “ You can’t keep me cooped up in here, I’m a peacock, you gotta let me fly!”

So, why would this job be any different?

In that moment of uncertainty, I made it my goal to make it past five years with AvKARE.

Shortly after being hired, I discovered I had found my dream career. It offered everything that I had been looking for – travel, working from home, making my own schedule, working for a small business that treats you like family, and more. I then realized I needed to challenge myself a little more, and adjust my goal. Because come on, me sticking with a company that I loved was going to be pretty easy. My intent changed to not only stay hired with the company for 5+ years, but to make it 10+ years, and on the way continually improve and adjust whenever and wherever I am needed. As a saleswoman, you know I am always working towards that next opportunity to either sale or succeed.

There have been many changes since I started with the company, as well as in my personal life. In January 2019, I hit my original five year goal. I have had multiple roles within the company, and I have grown tremendously as a business woman. I have been able to see different parts of the states, enjoy time at home with my family, and work with people who have not only mentored and influenced me to be better tomorrow than I am today, but have also become my second family. Shoot, I spent my whole life in Texas, and now I am living in Arizona- tell that to five years ago Janneke, and she probably would not believe you. AvKARE has allowed me to flourish and expand beyond my dreams and goals, and has propelled me into a future I never would have guessed I would be in. So, I guess you could say I have officially jumped beyond my goals.

My hope is that writing this inspires and encourages you to do the same. Believe in what it is you want to do, envision where you see yourself, and go for it. You may have to make adjustments along the way, but with the right intentions, you too will make it happen.
